VLADIMIR MACBETIN

Theatrical essay about manipulation and irony. Shakespeare's shortest play Macbeth in the context of the Putin's story.

What happens when Shakespeare's shortest drama Macbeth is seen as a story of a lonely tyrant who is trying in the time of his defeat to escape? Does he feel guilty? Can he admit that his game of power and life are at the end? Vladimir Macbetin is waiting, similarly as Beckett's characters to their last rescue. He is abandoned in the airport lobby. Lonely in his madness. Mad in his loneliness. Shakespeare's drama Macbeth is a registry for prototype of a man who decided to be lonely to achieve an absolute power.

Macbeth + Vladimir Putin = Vladimir Macbetin

What happens when the two characters become one? What happens when we look at the governance of Vladimir Putin though the well-known Shakespearean drama full of murder, intrigue and tragic fates? What tragedy is hidden in the fate of Vladimir Putin? We can find the answers in the themes of alienation, manipulation, separation, fear, suspicion and ideology.
