END OF MAN?! NEWS REPORT FROM THE KITCHEN

What happens when instead of the everyday portion of truth delivered in the name of power, we find the testimonies of nameless and stricken people, as recorded by the Nobel prize winner Svetlana Alexijevicova? Her books are apolitically political. With unfaltering certainty, they are a reflection of modern society. Through hundreds of interviews with contemporary witnesses, they offer an alternative view on modern history as seen by the common people.

A multigenre project about the power of the powerless influenced by the books of Světlana Alexejovič, who won the Novel Prize for literature.

„Each news from „the kitchen“ of unconsciousness, where the helplessness gurgles, saws you as a knife cuts aspic. The stigmata bleed with the color of sparse borsch. „It is vegetarian“ the moderator reassures you and offers you a full plate while the smell of burnt meat disseminates from the micro scene presented. This new performance of Spitfire Company is a goulash not easy to digest, yet everybody should taste it. A shot of vodka is always ready to be served by the moderators.“ (About End of Men?! News Report from Kitchen Performance, Divadelní noviny)

„The paradox of the era of mass disinformation was brilliantly grasped by the authors of this performance. State TV includes the Radio Jerevan’s news report in the broadcast. Radio Jerevan – fictitious radio station, a synonym to the ridiculous Soviet propaganda. Laughter is not always appropriate. Our attention is caught by the projection screen showing live animation from the table.“ (Divadelní noviny)
